Edna Githens Campbell died Friday, April 12, 2013 at St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center in Southern Pines.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20th in the Chapel at Belle Meade in Southern Pines by Rev. Karen Allen. Burial will be private at the historic Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, OH.
Born May 30, 1919 in Toledo, OH to Viola and William Weber Githens.
Edna was the youngest of seven children, all of whom preceded her in death including her grandson, Robert Clement Campbell.
After graduation from Scott High School in Toledo, OH, Edna attended college at Miami of Ohio in Oxford, OH where she majored in English.
In 1940, Edna married Robert Halsey Campbell, Jr. And they became parents of two sons.
Edna and Bob enjoyed a long and happy marriage for 65 years until his death in May, 2005. After moving numerous times within six states during a meaningful career, with Edna always keeping the home fires burning, the couples moved to Pinehurst where they lived and enjoyed retirement by traveling, playing golf, and enjoying friends for 34 years. They were devoted members of Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Edna is survived by two sons, Robert Halsey Campbell, III (Bonnie) of Brooksville, FL and John A. Campbell (Gloria) of Kansas City, four granddaughters, Christy (Tim) Hanchett, Cindy (Chris) Wolz, Jennifer (Doug) Crable, and Kathryn (Chad) Myers, three great grandchildren, Campbell A. Myers, Cade N. Myers, and Avery Crable.
Memorials may be made to the Belle Meade Education Fund, 100 Waters Drive, Southern Pines, NC 28387.

John, so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She had a full life and an active retirement-including golf. Now I know why you are such a good golfer.
